Former DP Gachagua moot political alliance with Wiper Party Kalonzo Musyoka
Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has given indications of forming a political alliance with Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka, stating that Kalonzo has proven to be an ally of the mountain in difficult times and, as such, the mountain shall return the favour at the right time.
Gachagua says the mountain owes Kalonzo a debt for supporting the late President Mwai Kibaki, and 2027 is the time to pay the debt.
The impeached former DP spoke in Mbooni constituency, Makueni county today during the burial service of Agnes Mwikali Muiya who is the matriarch to Bishop Dr. Francis Mulinge, the national chairman of the United Clergy Alliance.
While faulting his former boss president William Ruto for betraying him, Gachagua was full of praise for the Wiper Party leader, who he claimed stood for what was right against the Kenya Kwanza Government.
“Wiper people led by Kalonzo have shown grace and we have decided you are our friends for life. And we don’t just say that. When we say it, we mean it.” Gachagua said, as he confirmed he was in talks with the Wiper Party leader.
“We owe Kalonzo and you people. We are in talks with kalonzo and we will strategise well. We are talking as Kenyans and looking for a way to improve the economy and end the trend of lies in the country.” Gachagua added.
The impeached former Deputy President was also adamant that the Ukambani community had the numbers to swing the odds against President Ruto’s camp if only they turned out in large numbers to register as voters.
“Mine is just to urge the Ukambani people to register as voters. As the nominated MCA said, leadership is registering and voting.” Gachagua said.
“In Kenya to win a poll, you need 50 plus one. We want Kitui Machakos and Makueni to register themselves so we can get 3.5 to four million. Once you get to that figure, look for me because on our side we want to push 10 million. Everything is about strategy.”
Gachagua’s sentiments were backed by one of his fiercest supporters, Kiambu Senator Karungo wa Thangwa, who also publicly proclaimed his support towards Kalonzo.
At the same time, Gachagua criticised the government for what he alleged as undermining the people of Kenya and using force to approve government policies.
He also called out his former boss led administration for its continued attack on critics and those opposing its policies saying that Kenyans have every right to oppose policies that they feel are subjective to them.
He asked the government to be considerate and empathetic while engaging Kenyans including not using force and instead convince them to vaccinate their animals.
Gachagua has also hit on the government for going against its pledge during the campaign period on eviction saying that it is a sad state of affairs that during the festive seasons, Kenyans are sleeping in the cold after forceful evictions.
On the new found camaraderie with the Akamba, Gachagua has welcomed the Community to the GEMA association saying that they are political cousins and should start working together for future endeavors.
He asked the community to register as voters en masse for their own advantage in the next general elections.
He was accompanied by Makueni Senator Dan Maanzo, Kiambu Senator Karungo Wa Thang’wa, Githunguri member of parliament Gathoni wa Muchomba, Makueni members of county assembly and former Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu among others.
