Former Chief Justice Willy Mutunga’s son is dead

The son to Chief Justice emeritus Willy Mutunga, Athman Mutunga is dead.

In a message on behalf of the Judiciary, Chief Justice Martha Koome they expressed their deepest condolences to the former CJ and his family following the death of Athman.

“On behalf of the judiciary family and my behalf, I extend our deepest condolences to emeritus Chief Justice (Rtd) Willy Mutunga and his family on the heartbreaking loss of his beloved son, Athman Mutunga. We stand with the Mutunga family in grief during this incredibly difficult time. While words may never fully ease the pain of the death of a loved one, we hope that the family finds comfort in the cherished memories shared with Athman.” The CJ said in her statement.

Athman passed away at the Coptic Hospital where he was undergoing treatment.

Following the news, Kenyans have shared condolence messages with the former CJ.

“Our sincere and heartfelt condolences to comrade Willy Mutunga on the passing of your son Athman.” Canadian-based lawyer Miguna Miguna stated.

“My sincere condolences, comrade Willy Mutunga, on the passing of your beloved son. We cannot imagine the depth of your pain during this difficult time but know that our thoughts and prayers are with you. May you find strength in the cherished memories of Athman and comfort in the love and support of those around you. May his soul rest in eternal peace.” Lawyer Willis Otieno said to the family of the former CJ.

“So sorry to hear this. Condolences to Willy Mutunga and his family. You are in my thoughts.” X user Rasna Warah stated in her condolence message.
