FKF warns fans against fake ticketing sites ahead of World Cup qualifiers match
The Football Kenya Federation (FKF) has raised an alarm over a fraudulent website purporting to sell tickets for the upcoming Harambee Stars World Cup qualifying matches.
In its statement, the federation revealed that the scam platform had even set up a fake M-PESA paybill number, tricking unsuspecting fans into paying for non-existent tickets.
FKF has cautioned supporters to avoid making purchases through unofficial channels, emphasising that Tikiti is the only authorized ticketing partner.
Fans can buy genuine tickets through the website www.tikiti.co.ke or by dialing 51955#.
The federation urged fans to remain vigilant, warning that falling for fake websites not only leads to financial loss but could also prevent them from supporting the national team in these crucial fixtures.
This comes after the recently concluded CHAN, Kenyans were warned of imposter websites that claimed to sell tickets.
The fraudulent website posed as chan.moohk.com, the official distributor of CHAN tickets in Kenya, as the official website has been reporting downtimes.
Unsuspecting fans who failed to notice the subtle difference in the domain names risked falling victim to the scam.
Social media users sounded the alarm, cautioning football fans to avoid the clone site, with one user writing;
“Be very careful, Kenyans don’t leave any chance to eat, a Kenyan has already developed a clone website of Moohk, and you will find yourself buying a fake ticket,” Sports Journalist Kevin Teya has warned.
Another user also issued a stern warning against the fake platform, asking those interested in watching the game to only get the tickets once they go live on the official website.
“Scam alert. Fraudsters have created a website chan.mookh.co.ke. If you’re not keen, it’s your fault. The legit site is chan.mookh.com. Go there and set a reminder. When tickets go live, you might be lucky and get one,” he said.
