FKF initiates audit on pending bills owed to referees by past regimes

FKF will also introduce a digital referee appointment system to safeguard against malpractices and enhance efficiency and fairness

Football Kenya Federation (FKF) has initiated an audit of all outstanding payments owed to referees from previous administrations and all verified amounts, including those from past administrations, will be settled, with priority given to obligations incurred under the new administration.

This was the resolution of a consultative meeting between FKF President Hussein Mohammed and his deputy McDonald Mariga and the National Referees Committee and the Appointment Committee at Kandanda House in Nairobi.

The meeting focused on key issues affecting refereeing in FKF leagues with multiple resolutions being adopted.

It discussed referee vetting and data collection was discussed during which it  was agreed that a structured vetting process and data collection system will be implemented for all referees in FKF leagues.

It was also agreed that a policy document will be developed to guide the refereeing structure.

In fixtures management, the FKF Leagues and Competitions Manager was tasked to enforce strict fixture discipline to prevent disruptions.

On the increasing cases of hooliganism, FKF plans collaborate with security agencies to protect referees and hold clubs accountable for misconduct.

The issue of referee welfare Service Level Agreement (SLA) was also discussed to ensure timely payments upon match report submission. Referees will also receive annual gym subscriptions to enhance fitness.

The meeting also discussed how to address concerns regarding branch officials influencing appointments and promotions. The federation agreed to adopt a data-driven promotion system for referee assessments and career progression.

The committee also agreed to work together to ensure effective leadership and accountability.
