Ecobank appoint Josephine Anan-Ankomah as new Managing Director
Ecobank Kenya Limited has appointed Ghanaian banker Josephine Anan-Ankomah as new Managing Director for its Kenya operations and the regional executive for Central, Eastern and Southern African (CESA).
She takes over from Cheikh Travaly who retired in December last year after attaining 60 years which is in accordance with the company’s policy.
Through a statement, Ecobank Kenya Board of Directors Chairman, Martin Mbogo said that the new MD brings 30 years of experience in treasury management, commercial banking and investment banking.
“We are confident that Josephine is the right person for the role and has what it takes to further boost the Ecobank brand in Kenya and the CESA region to even greater heights,” he said.
He further stated that her appointment has since received clearance from the Central Bank of Kenya.
Prior to her appointment, Josephine was Ecobank Transnational’s Group Executive, Commercial Banking.
She has served as Managing Director for Ecobank Gambia, Regional Treasurer – (Ghana, Liberia, Sierra Leone, Guinea and The Gambia), Chief Operating Officer – (Ecobank West African Monetary Zone/East and Southern Africa), Head of Corporate Strategy and Business Development (Ecobank Ghana) and Head – Investment Banking Group (Ecobank Ghana).
Her main task is to lead and grow the Bank’s business in the country and the wider CESA region constituting 18 out of 33 Ecobank affiliates and one representative office.
