Central Kenya loses focus with fresh party politics-Njuki

Politicians in Mt. Kenya harbouring plans of coming up with a new political vehicle for the region, are engaged in premature debate according to Tharaka Nithi Governor Muthomi Njuki.
Speaking in Meru where he was the chief guest at a cultural event that brought together Meru and Tharaka Nithi counties, under the theme of two counties, one people; the governor said it would be shameful that other parts of the country are thinking about developing their regions, while reports from the larger Mt. Kenya region focus on political squabbles and how to solve them.
According to the second term governor, it was premature for regions to scheme of how to start political outfits at this point, yet there is so much that needs to be done on the development front.
“There is a time we came up with a political party six months to the election and it went ahead to win key positions, including members of parliament. Where is the hurry now? Njuki quipped
Governor Njuki also told off former deputy president Rigathi Gachagua, whom he accuses of variously undermining the government and working extra hard to isolate the people of Mt. Kenya from development.
He said it is unfortunate that the region fought extremely hard to win government in the run up to the 2022 election only to be asked to shun it two years into the marriage.
“It cannot be that the report the NIS is giving about our region is fire-fighting every day. That is where money meant for development will go. We need to be strategic. Other regions are getting reports of development.” said Governor Njuki
He has also called for the unity of the two counties in approaching government and asking for a share of development, saying their strength is in their coming together.
