Long day for Kenyan golf players as cut chances diminish for 2025 Magical Kenya Open

Kenya’s chances to make it to the business end of the 2025 Magical Kenya Open (MKO) tournament seems to be taking a beating going by the number of tumbles witnessed at the Par 71 Muthaiga Golf course today.
It would appear thus far, that the DP World Tour event is having a toll on home based players with some of the results being seen.
The most unexpected is top amateur in the country Michael Karanga of Kiambu Golf Club who finished of round 2 with -11(82) and a to a 153 score over the two rounds.
The reigning Kenya Amateur Golf Championship winner has had a torrid time on the course with his putting occasioning a series of bogeys on his card.
The duo of Samuel Njoroge (Railways Club) and David Wakhu (Golf Park Club) literally struggled out on the course with far from ideal numbers.
Njoroge finished on +11(153) with Wakhu on +10 (152) over the two rounds of play. It was a thorough disappointment on the whole for the duo who is some of the most experienced professionals in the country.
Njoroge for instance was tied at a disappointing placement of position of 142 and shot a staggering 14 bogeys over two days of play against five birdies.
Wakhu on his part finished on 10 bogeys overall over two days and to add insult to injury added two double bogeys on his score card thus putting him at position 141 off 150 in the standings.
Another culprit was Mohit Mediratta of Sigona Country Club who posted a score of +14 (156) overall and on a score of +10 (81) just today alone in what was a particular horror show.
Medirata who is a regular with the pro line-up for Kenya in this competition juts failed to click with his putting.
The 31-year-old had an unforgettable nightmare on the course with seven bogies, one double bogey and single triple bogey to capture his day two on the course.
Home player Njoroge Kibugu who finished his round today with a score of +5(76) and a total of 147 over the two days also was not a happy man.
The conditions at the course proved tricky with wind thus his balls were just not getting to the target.
The youngster had a triple bogey in hole 2 and a bogey in hole 8 to compound his problems.
However, to his credit, he made four birdies in holes 1, 10, 13 and 15 and a couple of pars across the surface.
