Ruto mourns Nyandarua MCA Beth Wahito

President William Ruto has led the country in mourning the death of the nominated Nyandarua Member of the County Assembly, Beth Wahito in a road accident at the weekend.

In his condolence message, President Ruto said Wahito was a solid grassroots mobiliser and a steadfast United Democratic Alliance (UDA) supporter who subscribed to progressive politics.

President Ruto said the legislator shall be remembered for her many fresh ideas that transformed the lives of the people of Njabini.

“We join the family and the people of Nyandarua County in mourning the passing of Mheshimiwa Beth Wahito. She was a solid grassroots mobiliser and a steadfast UDA supporter who subscribed to progressive politics. Beth will best be remembered for the many fresh ideas that transformed the lives of the people of Njabini,” the president mourned.

Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua described the fallen MCA as an amiable person and a shepherd of the people in Nyandarua County, adding that she lived a decent life in and out of politics.

“I knew her as a deeply development conscious leader and a people-person. Her demise leaves a big gap in society and tears in many eyes beyond a painful grief. It is through the leadership of great patriots like Hon. Wahito that we draw great lessons of humility, hardwork, commitment, passion, and humility. I pass my deepest sympathies to her immediate family, friends, Nyandarua County Assembly, and the great people of Nyandarua. I pray to Almighty God to rest her Soul Rest in eternal peace and perpetual light shine upon her forever,” Gachagua posted on his X account. 

The nominated MCA died on Saturday evening following a grisly accident along the Nakuru-Nairobi Highway.

Reports indicate the deceased was heading home after attending a budget committee meeting in Naivasha when the incident occurred at around 11:00 pm.

Confirming the incident, Nyandarua County Assembly Speaker Stephen Wachira said the lawmaker was hit by a Guardian Angel Bus as she attempted to drive across the road at an intersection and died on the spot.

Wachira said Wahito shall be remembered for her exemplary leadership that she showcased.

“She led with courage, strength, and determination. She was not afraid to speak up for what she believed was right and worked tirelessly to uplift the lives of the underserved in her community,” the Assembly speaker stated.

The Late MCA was a veteran politician in the politics of Nyandarua, with her career spanning over three decades.

She held leadership positions in the Democratic Party and was the chairperson of NARC-Kenya in Nyandarua, and recently, the Kinangop coordinator for the United Democratic Alliance (UDA).

The wrecked vehicle was towed to Naivasha Police Station.
