The bodies of the two class eight candidates who drowned in Theta Dam during an excursion have been retrieved.

The pupils aged 14 years were among the 60 pupils from Comejuu Premier Primary School in Komothai, Githunguri who were on a school trip at Kinare Forest after their Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) examination rehearsals.

According to their Head teacher, David Kang’ethe, the pupils were from class eight and grade six who are expected to sit for their national examinations on Monday.

The search operation begun yesterday with officers from Kiganjo police station working jointly with their counterparts from Mindoro and Gatundu.

“The operation kicked off after the boys slipped into Theta Dam at around 4:30 pm on Friday,” police said
