ANU detectives arrest two, seize 313kg of bhang in Transmara

Detectives attached to the Anti-Narcotics Police Unit (ANU) attached to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have arrested two men ferrying 313kilograms of cannabis sativa valued at Sh9million in Trans Mara enroute to Nairobi.
The duo, Peter Mwangi Kuria aged 63 and Boniface Wegesa Kuria aged 28 were transporting the illicit commodity aboard a White Toyota Prado, registration number KDC 125X.
Acting on intelligence, the detectives laid an ambush at Gem trading center.
They flagged down the vehicle but the suspects sped off towards Lolgorian town prompting a dramatic chase by the police.
“On stopping the vehicle, the driver defied and sped off towards the Lolgorian town direction. A chase ensued and detectives fired at the car flattening the front tyre which forced the driver to stop,” stated the police report.
However, no injury or property destroyed was reported.
The officers recovered 313kgs of bhang stuffed in eleven 90kg nylon sacks with a street value of Sh9, 390,000.
The vehicle is being detained at Lolgorian Police Station
