Parliament to start hearing petitions on removal of 4 IEBC commissioners from office

The Departmental Committee on Justice and Legal Affairs will on Thursday start hearing petitions presented for the removal of the four Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) commissioners from office.

The four commissioners, Juliana Cherera, Irene Masit, Justus Nyang’aya and Francis Wanderi are accused of violation of the Constitution, gross misconduct, incompetence among others as stated in the petitions.

The committee will on Thursday hear a petition by the Republican Liberty Party before cross examination.

Petition by Rev. Dennis Ndwiga Nthumbi will be heard next followed by his cross-examination.

On Friday, the hearing of a petition by Geoffrey Langat will be followed by his cross-examination followed by Steve Owuor’s respectively.

Cross examination of Juliana Cherera and Irene Masit will be conducted on Monday, and that of Francis Wanderi and Justus Nyang’aya scheduled for Tuesday next week.
