A section of Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) legislators have called on the elections monitoring body, IEBC to clean up the voters’ register as a way of restoring the trust and confidence of electorates ahead of the forth coming elections.
Led by the Homa-bay senator Moses Kajwang, the legislators have threatened to boycott the forth coming general elections if the IEBC chairman Mr. Wafula Chebukati and his commissioners fail to respond to their request.
Kajwang said that as the Opposition, they are ready for the elections, however they cannot participate if the elections environment cannot guarantee free, credible and fair elections.
He pointed out that there were double registration of voters in certain Jubilee strongholds and thus the voters’ registration needs proper audit to get rid of such mischief. His sentiments were seconded by the Kisumu County’s women’s representative Rose Nyamunga who expressed concern over the existence of fake National Identy Cards and voter’s cards which shall be used to rig in the elections.
