A six-year-old girl is recuperating at the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital after she was defiled and left for dead on Thursday night in Ngeria village, Uasin Gishu County.
Her mother, at around 7pm, reportedly sent the minor to the shop only for her to go missing. “I sent her to the shop for salt and because she returns fast whenever I send her out. I was worried when she took long. We went out in search of her with no success,” said the distraught mother.
The matter was reported to Ngeria police station prompting further search.
The girl was found unconscious in a ditch three hours later.
Meanwhile, the father of a five-year-old girl who has been undergoing physical torture from her stepmother was Thursday arraigned in a Nakuru court.
Elijah Muthuki Wandiri appeared before Principal Magistrate Ben Mararo and denied failing to protect his daughter from her stepmother’s beatings.
The court heard that the crime was committed between October 2016 and January 2017 after the accused remarried.
The offence is alleged to have been committed in Rhonda Estate. His wife, Mary Njoki, has since gone into hiding.
Wandiri denied committing the offence and was released on a bond of Sh50,000 pending hearing of the case.
The case will be mentioned on February 27.
