Transcend Media Group Limited has sued Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission(IEBC) for failing to pay over Sh150 million for advertising/publicity services rendered to it during 2013 general election.

The media company wants the electoral agency compelled to pay the said amount of money failure to which the Chief executive officer Ezra Chiloba jailed for a period of six months.

“In default of the said payment, IEBC chief executive officer Ezra Chiloba or the person for the time being occupying the office of CEO  do show cause why he should not be fined /or committed to civil jail for a period of six(6)months,” said the company’s director Lai Muthoka in courts documents.

According to the media company in 2014 it filed a case seeking the payment of an 198,787,892.40 from IEBC from media services rendered to it in respect of the 2013, March General election.

Upon full trial the court in July 20 this year, awarded the company sh 150,367,882.40 as cost and interest at court rates.
Muthoma claims  that despite numerous demands and notice of intention to execute, IEBC has adamantly refused and failed to settle the debt.
