A 26-year-old man has been charged with killing a woman he met on Facebook on their first date.
The man, Richard Nyakina, pleaded not guilty to the charge in which he is accused of killing Lydia Nyaboke on July 23 this year after luring her on a date.
According to the charge sheet presented in court by the prosecution, it is alleged that he committed the offense at an unknown time at Ngong Forest Mutuini Block in Dagoreti South, Nairobi County.
Before she disappeared, the deceased informed her younger brother who she was staying with in Ngara, Nairobi that she was visiting her boyfriend for the first time and that she would be back before end of day.
It was when she failed to answer or return his calls that he sensed something was amiss and reported her missing to the police.
Nyakina was appearing before Justice James Wakiaga who disqualified himself from hearing the case since he is familiar with her family.
