Laikipia Governor Muriithi appoints senior county officials

Laikipia Governor Nderitu Muriithi has appointed former Permanent Secretary Thuita Mwangi as his senior adviser in his first appointments in formation of his government.

Muriithi further appointed Karanja Njora as the chief of staff, Githuku Mwangi the Economic and Political Affairs advisor while Kiama Kaara will be an advisor in the governor’s office.

Addressing the media at the county offices in Nanyuki, the governor who was accompanied by his deputy John Mwaniki has designated eight officers as acting accounting heads in various departments.

Christopher Otieno Jamba will take the Public Service and County administration, Paul Njenga Waweru will be responsible for the Finance, Economic Planning and County Development while Water, Irrigation, Environment and Natural Resources will be overseen by Joseph Mwangi Maina.

Agriculture, Livestock, and Fisheries will be taken care of by Dr Daniel Thuo while John Wachira Maina will be at the Infrastructure, Roads, Housing and Public Works.

Two ladies Ms Annette Wambui Muriuki and Alice Wanjiku Matu will be responsible in the Education, Gender, Culture, Sports and ICT and Trade, Tourism and Enterprise Development respectively while the Health Department will be supervised by Dr Donald Mogoi.

The governor said the designations are necessary to ensure a proper transition process and would be making further appointments as required by the law in the near future.
