The Public Service Commission (PSC) is on a warpath with its boss, the Public Service, Performance and Delivery Management Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria after the former disowned latter’s claimed appointment of television journalist Jacque Maribe as Head of Communication in the Ministry of Public Service, Performance and Delivery Management.
In a statement released today, PSC chairperson Ambassador Anthony Muchiri clarified that no such appointment has been made, neither has a request to employ her been received by the board.
Effectively, this renders CS Kuria’s public pronouncement an informal declaration.
“For the record, the said position will be filled through a competitive recruitment process should a vacancy arise.” Muchiri said.
The statement comes in response to assertions by Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria, who purportedly claimed that Maribe’s appointment had been made by the Public Service Commission.
The move paints a picture that the commission and the CS office could be working in close-purposes devoid of the requisite administrative consultation.
Maribe’s controversial appointment comes in the wake of her recent acquittal in the murder case of businesswoman Monica Kimani, who was tragically killed at her apartment in Nairobi’s Kilimani area in 2018.
Maribe had been charged alongside her ex-fiancé Joseph Irungu, alias Jowie.
Justice Grace Nzioka ruled that there was insufficient evidence linking Maribe to the murder, emphasizing that the prosecution had failed to provide substantial proof of her involvement in the crime.
