The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Homicide Unit has exonerated Lawrence Njuguna popularly known as DJ Fatxo from blame in the murder probe of his friend Jeff Mwathi.
According to a quick dispatch to newsrooms today, the DJ’s lawyer Dancun Okach of Okatch & Partners Advocates said the DCI confirmed that there is not a single shred or iota of evidence to suggest any remote criminal culpability or suspicion on the part of their client.
Consequently, Okatch said the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) has recommended an inquest into the death of Mwathi.
The deceased was found dead outside Fatxo’s apartment in Roysambu, Kasarani on February 22, 2023.
“We are pleased to say that we now know that the Director of Public Prosecutions has indeed looked into the matter and has agreed with the findings and recommendations of the Directorate of Criminal Investigation, namely that there is not a single shred or iota of evidence to suggest any remote criminal culpability or suspicion on the part of our client.” Okatch said.
The death sparked a public outcry that triggered the investigation.
The application for a public inquest was made in court by the Director of Criminal Investigations that established no evidence linking Fatxo to his friend’s death.
