Ford Kenya’s Wafula Wakoli has been declared the winner of the Bungoma senate by-election seat.
Wakoli who is National Assembly speaker Moses Wetangula’s longest serving personal assistant was announced winner after garnering 66,032 votes.
He was followed by Mwambu Mabonga of the United Democratic Alliance with 45,907 votes while Wafula Wamunyinyi of the Azimio One Kenya Coalition came third with 20,519 votes.
Wakoli will succeed Wetangula who resigned from the senatorial position after successfully contesting for the National Assembly Speaker seat, defeating former Speaker Kenneth Marende.
Wakoli’s win is a strong indication of the massive support Ford Kenya continues to enjoy in Bungoma county.
