The immediate former Senator of Meru county, Franklin Mithika Linturi, the Agriculture Cabinet Secretary nominee estimated his net worth at Sh1.2 billion.
Appearing before the National Assembly Appointment Committee for vetting, he revealed his current income including money from rental income, out of business, the amount of money he is expecting in arrears to be in the region beyond Sh1 billion.
“My financial net worth which included my investment in various companies in this country and in Saccos adds up to Ksh1.2 billion,” Linturi stated.
He added that he also receives income from rental properties and owns several high-end vehicles.
The lawmaker owns shares in various Sacco, including the Parliamentary Sacco, which comprises Parliamentarians and other staff.
Linturi listed his current source of income as livestock farming and agriculture, stating that he was expecting nearly Sh1 billion in the coming months.
“I am a dairy farmer. I keep cows and goats. I also grow sukuma wiki. The money I expect to get in the near future is beyond Sh1 billion,” Linturi revealed.
However, the trained lawyer failed to produce his Indian degree before the vetting committee, stating that he has been barred from accessing his house by the court stating he has 35 cases pending in court promising to accelerate the roll-out of genetically modified organisms in the country.
On the attempted rape allegations while raising the issue of sub judice, Mithika accused the DCI of witch hunt, defending his integrity, revealing that he is an open book.
“As I sit here, I have 35 cases in court of civil nature and the only criminal case is the Beryl case… I have fought so many cases. I want to free my mind given the opportunity to work for this country. I must forget the pain and persecution that I have gone through. I have left to the conscience of all my persecutors and God to deal with them,” Linturi claimed.
Linturi insisted that he is expecting Sh1 billion in unpaid court judgment awards, EACC for wrongful prosecution and the government’s failure to pay him for work done.
