The Kapsaret Member of Parliament (MP) Oscar Sudi’s use of Kenya Air force chopper to attend the ongoing Kenya Kwanza Parliamentary Group meeting in Naivasha yesterday sparked mixed reactions among Kenyans with some questioning how he obtained the clearance.
Ordinarily, the helicopter, which bears camouflage military colours is used by the President, Deputy President and senior security officers.
Kenyans took to the social media sparking a prolonged debate.
One of the famous Twitter users in the country Alinur Mohamed could not fathom how Sudi was moving around the country using President William Ruto’s Kenya Air Force chopper.
“Things are changing very fast in this country if now Mheshimiwa Oscar Sudi is moving around the country using President William Ruto’s Kenya Air Force chopper,” Alinur Mohamed posted.
Another Twitter user likened Sudi to the late Nicholas Biwott who was part and parcel of Daniel Toroitich Arap Moi government for 24 years during his authoritarian rule.
“Are we having a reincarnation of the late Nicholas Biwott in Oscar Sudi? The guy has been around the president a lot lately,” says Dennis Kimutai, tongue-in-cheek.
Narok County Senator Ledama Olekina also hit out at Sudi saying it was a waste of public funds, while rubbishing the UDA mantra, “bottom up.”
“Is this new Cabinet Secretary Ministry of Defense? What a waste of public resources …. Bottom up my foot!” he tweeted.
The MP boarded the military chopper together with other close allies of the DP to attend the Kenya Kwanza retreat in Naivasha.
Sudi was flanked by among others, President William Ruto’s aide Farouk Kibet ahead of the two-day event.
The retreat began Friday and will extend to Saturday with President William Ruto and his DP Rigathi Gachagua gracing the event.
The group met to discuss on the National Assembly leadership.
