Kenya sevens rugby team fondly known as Shujaa posted dismal performance in the just concluded Rugby World Cup in Cape Town, South Africa.
Kenya were ousted out of the competition after being defeated by Argentina 22-07 in the 2022 Rugby Sevens World Cup.
This dashed their hopes of reaching the semi-finals of the competition as they did in 2013.
Poor decisions and indiscipline by Shujaa players affected the team heavily and consequently led to the loss of the match. This came after Johnstone Olindi and Samuel Oliech were sin-binned.
Olindi, who happens to be a KCB player was the first to be sin-binned in the first half.
The team had earlier beaten Tonga in the preliminary round 19-0.
Fiji on the other hand displayed a spectacular performance to emerge winners of the World Cup after triumphing Australia 38-14 in the semi-finals before ravaging New Zealand 29-12 in the final. The match took place yesterday at the Cape Town stadium
“This is huge for Fiji; the boys have been fantastic. We can score tries but we also have to stop them and it was a huge defensive performance,” Fiji’ s coach Ben Gollings said while addressing the press after the significant victory.
This is Fiji’s third world title but their first since 2005.
