Azimio La Umoja One Kenya Coalition leader Raila Odinga today hosted clergy heads at his home in Karen, Nairobi.
They discussed matters pertaining to the just concluded General Elections which he has since disputed the outcome announced by the Independent Electoral Boundaries Commission (IEBC).
In the meeting Odinga pointed out that the elections were a sham and did not reflect the will of the people.
At the same time the former premier termed the win by his political nemesis as short-lived while he prepares to seek justice through legal means.
He further urged Kenyans to maintain peace while exercising patience.
“We do not want to see chaos or violence in our nation, we want peace to last and therefore we have decided to use the legal method and take the evidence we have before the highest court. We are doing this to defend democracy,” Raila said.
According to Odinga the presidential results announced by Wafula Chebukati declaring the Deputy President William Ruto as the winner was not conducted properly.
“You all know what happened at the Bomas of Kenya that was not an election because it was not conducted properly, we will be seeking justice to ensure the world knows what exactly transpired,” Odinga said.
He further added that the country had no president-elect yet awaiting the verdict by the Supreme court.
Given it was Odinga’s fifth stab to the presidency he further claimed the recent confessions by the four IEBC commissioners shows there was a problem within the commission.
“We do not have a president-elect yet, when you listen to what the four dissenting commissioners of IEBC said when they walked out of Bomas of Kenya, you will clearly understand that there was a problem,” Odinga added.
