Tension is high within the volatile Isiolo-Wajir border after three people were today killed and eight others badly injured in ensuing inter-ethnic clashes in Merti over grazing land.
Rival groups from the warring communities clashed leaving a trail of bloodshed and destruction today morning.
Confirming the incident, Isiolo County Police Commander Hassan Barua said officers have since been deployed to the area to quell the situation.
The police boss further said 600 heads of cattle that were stolen have so far been recovered during the operation.
He added that the communities involved in the clash have been at loggerheads for many years.
