Deputy President William Ruto now says that Kenya Kwanza is the coalition for the women of Kenya exuding confidence that the most formidable women leaders in the country are in the coalition.
Speaking during the launch of the Kenya Kwanza women charter at the Nyayo Stadium, he said that the coalition has a ready testimony in the upcoming 13th Parliament to demonstrate that it is the place for women.
Additionally, he confidently said that the coalition has an unopposed Woman Representative from Kericho county, Beatrice Kemei.
“…to demonstrate that Kenya Kwanza is the place of women, even before the election, we have a woman who has been elected as woman rep from Kericho County. Her name is Beatrice Kemei,” Ruto said.
He pointed out that the 2022 election is about the economy of the Republic of Kenya and its people stating that the face of this election is a woman called mama mboga.
“The August 9 General Election is an economic debate and as we have always maintained this moment is wholly defined by Mama Mboga, the bodaboda operator, young people, and farmers,” he said.
The Kenya Kwanza Alliance has already announced that if it forms the next government, more women will be appointed to the cabinet and other senior appointive posts.
Ruto said women perform better in tasks compared to men, and as such, the United Democratic Movement party (UDA) which he leads will prioritize them.
“I want to commit that as UDA party leader, women will not be there to be seen. They will be there to be heard and to lead,” he said.
Ruto unveiled the league last Sunday in what is aimed at neutralising the Azimio wave created by the nomination of Martha Karua as Raila Odinga’s running mate.
