48-year-old man in custody for killing wife’s lover

A 48-year- old man is in police custody for killing his love rival after he found him with his wife on their matrimonial bed in Githogoro slums, Nairobi.
Samuel Musungu, a casual labourer in Runda had returned home in neighbouring Githogoro settlement unannounced, only to find the deceased with his wife.
According to a report by the Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI), Musungu raised an alarm alerting the neighbours who stoned the man to death.
“The commotion attracted curious neighbours and Nyumba Kumi elders who rushed to the scene, but it was too late to save the man’s life. He was later identified as Nashon Mudovi,40, equally a casual labourer in the affluent Runda neighbourhood,” read the police report.
The suspect is currently being processed to answer to charges of murder contrary to Section 203 as read with Section 204 of the Penal Code.
Nairobi deputy police boss James Mugera has discouraged mob lynching terming it criminal.
“Mob lynching is criminal and no one should participate in it at whatever cost. The suspects should be handed over to us for processing,” he said.
He said they have launched a programme to address the menace in the city.
The body of the victim was taken to the mortuary.
