Kakamega county governor Wycliffe Oparanya has been named chairperson of the Azimio’s Western campaign.
Oparanya announced the news on social media today stating that he has already constituted a committee to handle the situation.
“I have already constituted a campaigns Committee that comprises MPs from the 11 counties in the region that I will be working with to coordinate Azimio campaigns,” he said.
He claimed he was recruited during a Nairobi meeting to devise tactics to help Azimio presidential candidate Raila Odinga win more votes and elective seats in the Western region.
Oparanya expressed gratitude to Odinga for providing him the opportunity to lead, saying the ODM leader has made numerous sacrifices for Kenya, making him the greatest presidential candidate to recover the country’s economy.
Despite the political infiltration by Deputy President William Ruto and his allies, the Kakamega governor indicated that he has mapped up a solid plan to energise the Western area under Odinga.
Musalia Mudavadi of the Amani National Congress and Moses Wetangula of Ford Kenya joined Ruto’s side, potentially shifting Odinga’s loyalty in the region.
