A Corporal of Police attached to Kiambu Police Station escaped a botched robbery attempt today at dawn after a motorbike rider he took and a pillion passenger who claimed to be in distress turned against him upon arriving at his destination at GG village in Thindigua, Kiambu County.
The officer took a bodaboda to ferry him and along the way, a man pretending to be in distress stopped them asking for help.
The police officer helped the man without the knowledge that the man and the rider were working in cahoots only for the two to rain blows and kicks on him.
“But upon arrival the rider and a man he had picked on their way claiming to be in distress, turned against me with heavy blows and kicks demanding for money and other valuables,” said Police officer.
It was after the attack that the corporal revealed his identity, by pulling out his firearm and firing in the air. He was able to arrest the two suspects who had attempted to escape.
He swiftly arrested the two before calling for reinforcement from his counterparts at Thindigua police post.
