Dr Swarup Mishra, popularly known as “Kiprop arap Chelule” made history in Rift Valley after he bagged the seat of Kesses parliamentary seat on Jubilee Party ticket by trouncing the incumbent, James Bett with a wide margin during the primaries yesterday.
Mishra who is the chairman of Mediheal group of hospitals in the country diminished Bett’s bid for a second term in office after he trounced the outgoing law maker with 23,314 against the loser’s 2,383
votes.
Allan Kosgey, the first born son of former cabinet minister Henry Kosgey was content with 4382 votes with speaker of Uasin Gishu County Assembly Isaac Terer and former area MP David Koros alias ‘mukombosi managing only 5621 and 1973 votes respectively.
In Ainabkoi constituency, the incumbent, Samuel Chepkonga, who is also the chairman of the influential National Assembly’s parliamentary Committee on Legal Affair lost his bid for a second term in office after he was trounced in the party nomination by William Chepkut.
Chepkut, who is a long serving personal assistant to former powerful cabinet minister Nicholas Biwott, beat Chepkonga in the neck to neck race for MP seat with 13, 685 votes’ votes against the loser’s
13,556votes to fly the Jubilee Party ticket.
Chepkut made a comeback with victory after losing to the incumbent narrowly during the 2013 general election. He had stood on National Visionary Party that is headed by Biwott by then while Chepkonga was riding on the defunct United Republic Party whose leader by then was Deputy President William Ruto.
