Kenya on Monday recorded 486 new cases of Covid-19, bringing the country’s case load to 146,156, Health CS Mutahi Kagwe has said.
The CS in a statement confirmed that this was from a sample size of 2,989 recording a positivity rate of 16.3 per cent.
The cumulative tests stand at 1,564,827.
The country’s fatalities have risen to 2,368 after another 20 patients succumbed to the disease on diverse dates.
Kagwe said that there are 1,645 patients currently admitted in various hospitals across the country. Another, 6,063 patients are on the home-based care programme.
A total of 248 patients are in ICU, out of which 48 are on ventilatory support.
Also, 277 patients are separately on supplementary oxygen, out of which 256 are in general wards and 21 in the HDU.
Of the newcases, Nairobi has 349 new cases, Kiambu 21, Uasin Gishu 21, Mombasa 17, Kilifi 16, Kajiado 14, Machakos 12, Nakuru 11, Kwale 5, Kericho 4, Kirinyaga 2, Kitui 2, Nyeri 2, Mandera 1, Murang’a 1, Samburu 1, Siaya 1, Kisumu 1, Taita Taveta 1, Turkana 1, Bomet 1, Busia 1 and Elgeyo Marakwet 1.
Meanwhile, 115 patients have recovered from the disease out of which 54 were from the Homebased care program while 61 were discharged from various health facilities.
Kenya’s recoveries now stand at 99,210.
