Embattled Tiaty Member of Parliament Asman Kamama has defected from President Kenyatta’s Jubilee Party to Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua’s Maendeleo Chap Chap in a bid to salvage his political career.
The three-term legislator, who is also the chairman of the powerful parliamentary committee on national security and administration, has been facing a barrage of criticism over ongoing banditry attacks in his Baringo County backyard.
Yesterday, key allies of Kamama said the legislator made the move after holding wide consultations and also taking into account recent political developments on the ground.
Led by Charles Akeno, the supporters lauded the move taken by Kamama terming it as the missing jigsaw puzzle that will bolster his unprecedented fourth term bid. Last week, Kamama had a brief dalliance with the Party of National Unity before he settled for Maendeleo Chap Chapa.
