Bongo Flava crooner Mbosso confirms he has left Diamond Platnumz’s music label
The Gere hit singer revealed that Mbosso had humbly requested to leave the label, as he aspired to grow independently as a solo artiste
Popular Bongo Flava crooner Mbosso (real name Mbwana Yusuf Kilungi) has confirmed trending reports that he has left Wasafi Classic Baby (WCB), the Diamond Platnumz-owned music label.
His move to disembark from the WCB ship was made bare when the Nadekezwa hitmaker quietly removed a tag from his Instagram bio that showed that he was a WCB signee. The music label is based in Mbezi Beach, Dar es Salaam.
Mbosso removed the tag earlier today, Thursday, February 6, 2025, following mixed reactions from his fans yesterday, after he initially removed the label, then re-uploaded it, only to fully clear it today.
All this unfolds amid growing speculation that Mbosso has been in a spat with Diamond and that he has fully exited the music record label that he joined in 2018 shortly after parting ways with Ya Moto Band.
However, while headlining the Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) party campaign rally yesterday, , Diamond addressed the rumours, saying he had spoken with Mbosso about two weeks ago regarding his exit from the label.
The Gere hit singer revealed that Mbosso had humbly requested to leave the label, as he aspired to grow independently as a solo artiste. He further added that upon hearing about Mbosso’s plans, he did not oppose them, but instead gave him his full blessings, as he was one of the few artistes who had consistently shown him respect throughout their musical careers.
“Wiki mbili nyuma tuliongea na Mbosso na aliniomba aanze kujisimamia na nimempa baraka zote na Mbosso ni Mdogo wangu, sababu ya kumsaini Mbosso_nilikuwa nampenda, mimi na Mbosso hatujawahi kugombana…. nikamwambia kwajinsi ulivyoniheshimu kwa ulivyonipenda, tulivyopendana siwezi kukutoza hata shilingi 10 kwahiyo sijamtoza hata shilingi 10, nafikiri tumeshakamilisha vitu vyake ameanza kujisimamia rasmi hata show aliyokuja huku amekuja rasmi kama show za kujisimamia,” said Diamond.
Mbosso’s exit from WCB is not a new phenomenon, as other signed artistes of the label have sprinted before him, and not in so good terms with the stable’s boss Diamond. Singers including Harmonize, Rayvanny, and Rich Mavoko are some of the musicians that have left the label in the recent years.
Mbosso is known for some of his hit songs including Baikoko, Shatani, Tamu, Yalah, Huyu Hapa, Watakubali, and Haijakaa Sawa.
