Police gun down five armed robbers in a shoot-out in Kakamega

Special Service Unit detectives attached to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations(DCI)  have gunned down five notorious gunmen after a drive-by chase in Ikolomani, Kakamega County.

Confirming the incident, Kakamega South OCPD Joseph Chesire described the five as high profile criminals.

“They were planning to carry out a series of robberies in Kakamega, Bungoma, and Busia counties,” he said.

According to Chesire, the five robbers were asked to surrender but dared the police but luck was not on their side.

Police said they had chased down the gang from Kakamega town.

The five were gunned down by police at Makhokho area along the Kakamega-Kisumu highway.

The sleuths have recovered two pistols from the slain suspected robbers.
