A strike threat by clinical officers has been withdrawn top give the Salaries and Remuneration Commission (SRC) time to complete crafting new job descriptions and scales for the officers, the Council of Governors (CoG) chairman Josephat Nanok has said.
He said the industrial action was suspended after talks between the CoG and the clinical officers.
Speaking during the burial of Laikipia governor, Ndiritu Muriithi’s mother on Saturday, Nanok said there is hope that even the more than 100 days-old strike by nurses that had grounded operations in county public hospitals will be resolved soon, saying talks have progressed well.
He said the duty of governors is to ensure devolution works in all counties in conjunction with other stakeholders.
“I know even the strike by nurses will end soon and full operations in our hospitals will be restored,” he said.
Retired President Mwai Kibaki, Cabinet secretaries Mwangi Kiunjuri and James Macharia also attended.
