Businessman Erastus Odhiambo alias Ediot has been sentenced to 20 years behind bars for killing his wife.
Justice Stella Mutuku said on Wednesday that she considered his mitigation in making the determination and that he was remorseful.
Odhiambo shot his 27-year-old second wife, Linda Irungu, on December 12, 2014 at Waihura court of Buruburu Phase Five Extensions in Nairobi after a quarrel.
According to Diana, the deceased’s sister, the accused got angry when he learnt that Irungu had gone out.
Odhiambo said he went to a club in Parklands at 8pm to wait for Irungu – a lawyer.
He said he had been in constant communication with her for most of the day but that she did not join him at the club, saying she was tired and would go home to rest.
Diana said she advised her sister to go to their parents’ home to avoid her husband, and that she hurriedly changed into her pajamas and prepared to leave.
On her way out, she told the court, Irungu met her husband who then killed her after a scuffle.
