Woman accused of defiling two minors detained after failing to raise Sh100,000 bond

A Kakamega woman has been remanded at the county Women’s Prison after failing to raise a Sh100,000 bond after pleading not guilty to defiling two boys aged 7 and 8 at Emusala Village, Kakamega Central sub-county.

The accused, Jennifer Sam is charged that on February 13 and 14, she defiled the boys at Emusala village. She however denied the charges.

“Your honor, the charges are a fabrication, I am not guilty,” she told Kakamega magistrate Josephine Maragia.

She had undergone an age assessment to ascertain she was of age and fit to stand trial.

State lawyer Duncan Mbonzo told the court that they were forced to take the woman for an age assessment after there was doubt as to whether she was an adult.

Mbonzo said that she was not against the release of the accused on bond adding that she was a first-time offender.

He also said that he had five witnesses, who included guardians and parents of the boys together with medical officers who examined the boys and the woman.

The case will be heard on July 10.
