Wiper Party expels Farah Maalim as deputy leader for siding with Ruto

Recent inciting and abusive language by Dadaab MP Farah Maalim has landed him in hot soup with his party which has now expelled him.
The outspoken veteran legislator, who is also a former Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly, was captured in a video calling out Kenyans for disrespecting the Head of State during a recent tour of in the North Rift. His behaviour has now earned the rebuke of Wiper Democratic Party-Kenya leader Kalonzo Musyoka.
Musyoka, who was hosting party meeting in Karen earlier today, expressed displeasure with Maalim who until his dismissal was the Deputy Party leader of WDP-K.
“For avoidance of doubt, Farah Maalim, who will until now has been the Wiper deputy leader, stands expelled from the Wiper Democratic Movement for violating the Constitution and rights of Kenyans, and even abusing Kenyan mothers,” an agitated Musyoka told journalists.
In July last year, Maalim came under fire for suggesting that if he were Kenya’s leader, he would have dealt with youthful demonstrators with extreme measures, stating he could “even have killed 5,000 of them each day.”
In Farah’s speech earlier this month in Kapsabet, he stated; “When you see everything progressing and then some fools say, ‘Kasongo Ruto must go.’ To hell with those who say that! Is he sitting in your mother’s or father’s seat? He is sitting in our seat, and we will re-elect him; we will deliver 99% or even 100%. We are saying Ruto will stay until 2032,” Maalim stated while sparing no soft words for youth who have been critical of the Kenya Kwanza administration.
The Political Parties Act allows for a party member’s expulsion only if they contravene the party constitution and are given a fair hearing through internal dispute resolution mechanisms.
The party has scheduled disciplinary proceedings against Maalim for Tuesday, giving him 14 days to respond to the allegations. Failure to do so could result in further action, including expulsion from the party.
Musyoka, who was flanked by Wiper members and Jubilee Party Secretary General Jeremiah Kioni, further took issue with President Ruto over the recent abductions and consequences of abusing social media.
“Since the President has failed to respect the laws and Constitution, then the solution is simply to resign. Nobody is above the law. He has been instilling fear in Kenyans by the way he speaks plus the pronouncements of his cronies and lieutenants. He does not respect the Kenyans whom he swore to serve.”
