The late legendary news anchor Catherine Kasavuli has today been laid to rest at her home in Zululu village, Vihiga county.
In a funeral attended by family members, colleagues and politicians, Kasavuli was eulogised as kind, generous, happy and inspirational.
Journalists from different media stations including Royal Media Services led by Fred Obachi Machoka, Citizen TV News Anchor Swaleh Mdoe and Director Fred Afune also paid tributes to the late Kasavuli.
They eulogised her as a hardworker, friendly and a motherly colleague who always advised colleagues.
The funeral service was also graced by Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi, National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetangula, NARC Kenya Party leader Martha Karua, Roots party leader George Wajakoyah, Sirisia Member of Parliament John Walukhe among others.
Speaking at the funeral, Karua mourned Kasavuli as a journalist who mentored many.
She said despite Kasavuli battling cancer for months, she still kept a smile on her face.
She urged the government to up the game on the war against the cancer pandemic.
“Cancer is treatable and we must work as a team to face off this pandemic,” Karua said.
Kasavuli succumbed to cervical cancer on December 29 at the Kenyatta National Hospital.
She is succeeded by her only son, Martin Kasavuli.
