United States President Joe Biden will host President Uhuru Kenyatta for a meeting in Washington tomorrow at the White House in Washington DC.

According to a statement by White House spokesperson Jen Psaki, Biden and Kenyatta will discuss the strong U.S.-Kenyan bilateral relationship and the need to bring transparency and accountability to domestic and international financial systems.

They will also discuss efforts to defend democracy and human rights, advance peace and security, accelerate economic growth, tackle climate change.

“The meeting will build on the leaders’ phone call in February and on President Biden’s commitment to the U.S. partnership with Africa based on principles of mutual respect and equality,” read the statement.

In February this year, the two leaders had a telephone conversation where Biden affirmed the importance of the strong U.S.- Kenya bilateral relationship.

He emphasized the United States’ continued commitment to working closely with Kenya to support regional peace and security, including at the United Nations Security Council (UNSC).

Kenyatta will be the first African Head of State to be hosted by Biden at the White House since his inauguration.

The United States and Kenya have long cooperated on economic and security initiatives including counterterrorism.
