UON hold Nairobi City Diplomacy symposium to culminate launch of ACSUS
The Nairobi City Diplomacy symposium to mark the end of the launch of the establishment of the African Centre for the Study of the United States of America (ACSUS) at the University of Nairobi Chandaria Auditorium has successfully been celebrated.
In their push to lobby for Nairobi to host the 2024 sister cities international convention, the presentation by key diplomatic cops led by, the chair of Department of Diplomacy and International Studies at the University of Nairobi, Dr. Patrick Maluki with discussions centered on US, Kenya relations including Kenya city diplomacy, Environmental sustainability and climate change, gender mainstreaming, innovation and technology in smart cities and sports diplomacy and smart cities.
“It is our hope that the center will serve as a platform to promote understanding of spheres of US’s strategic engagement with Kenya, Africa, and the Global South,” revealed Dr. Maluki.
The center is believed to help create the next generation of tech-savvy scientists, entrepreneurs and professionals across different sectors in the country in particular and Africa in general.
“We want to build a center where young minds and general public will be able to learn maters USA,” the Deputy Mayor of Denver Happy Haynes alluded.
The center will act as a complex, multidisciplinary, and multi-actor platform of intellectual, technical, and strategic interaction anchored on issues that revolve around US interests as the global leader in many respects.
“The establishment ACSUS at the University of Nairobi will constitute a pivotal stepping-stone towards enabling the University of Nairobi to be the critical fusion center for teaching, research and strategic corporate outreach,” observed Dr. Maluki.
The organisers have high hopes of further strengthening and deepening the various spheres of cooperation, especially in promotion and awareness creation around US-based knowledge, technology, goods, services and markets.
“As such, the University of Nairobi highly appreciates and looks forward to strategic partnerships and corporate engagements as well as the necessary moral and material support that various US-based actors (both governmental and non-governmental) will provide towards the operationalisation and actualisation of this noble goal,” Dr. Maluki reiterated.
