The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) has postponed nomination in Nakuru Town West after a section of the party’s aspirants claimed that a powerful UDA politician favoured some members over others in tomorrow’s nomination process.
The protest by the aspirants has made the National Election Board postpone the elections to be conducted on April 19, alongside the nomination of Nandi Hills consistency, where a candidate lost his life through an accident.
In the other 35 counties, the party is expected to conduct its nominations as scheduled.
In a press briefing addressing the media, the Deputy President said that his party has at least 5,000 aspirants.
Deputy President William Ruto has urged all participants to participate in the primaries to ensure that they participate in a peaceful process.
The aspirants have been urged to ensure that their supporters are also peaceful.
The UDA has said that some of the ballot papers have already been transported to some parts of the counties where the nomination will take place, and some of the centres that are yet to receive ballot papers will receive the papers in the morning.
Apart from the party promising to conduct a free and fair process, the party has already posted clerks, presiding officers, and returning officers in all polling stations, with the DP calling the nomination a near general election kind of event.
