Kenya Premier League Champions Tusker on Saturday beat FC Talanta 1-0 at Ruaraka grounds in Nairobi to pile pressure on leaders, Kakamega Homeboyz in the Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKF-PL).
Courtesy of their win, Tusker FC moved to within three points of the FKF Premier League.
Rodgers Ouma scored the winning strike as the champions took their points tally to 52 from 28 games played.
Homeboyz on the other hand could restore their six-point cushion when they host Wazito on Sunday at Bukhungu Stadium.
In other fixtures played across the country at Kericho Green Stadium, Ulinzi Stars were awarded a walkover after cash-strapped Mathare United failed to show up for the match.
It was the second successive match that the 2008 champions have failed to honour this season after they failed to show up last weekend against Bandari in Nairobi.
Elsewhere, in Mombasa, Bandari came from behind to beat 10-man Bidco FC 2-1 thanks to late goals from Kevin Kimani and Andrew Juma.
Bandari FC started well with strikers William Wadri and Umar Kasumba failing to convert their chances after some good work from winger Hassan Abdallah.
Visitors Bidco were the first to score at the start of second half through Emanuel Mogaka who send 40 yards powerful shot past Bandari fc goalkeeper Michael Wanyika.
Bandari would equalize with only 15 minutes to go through a penalty well taken by Kevin Kimani after Striker Umar Kasumba was fouled in the 18 yard box by Francis Oduor.
The inclusion of Johanna Mwita and Chris Ochieng piled pressure to away team which made them made mistakes but Bandari failed to capitalise.
Andrew Juma scored the winning goal after connecting a well taken foul from his teammate Kevin Kimani to secure the three points.
