Uhuru is exaggerating his achievements, says Raila
Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga yesterday said President Uhuru Kenyatta is struggling to list his government achievements saying most projects claimed by Jubilee government are either exaggerated, non-existent or projects started by coalition government.
The Opposition chief, who was reacting to a public information portal launched by Uhuru and his deputy William Ruto on Monday poked holes into the listed achievements claiming they don’t exist in reality.
He cited seven areas where he claimed the government grossly exaggerated figures to woe Kenyans into reelecting them back to office during the August 8 General Election.
“In his 2016 State of the Nation address, the President said that Jubilee had built 3000 kilometers of road. In this year’s (2017) address, the number came down to 1950km. In the Budget Speech read a few weeks ago, the roads done came down again to 1500km. During the State Of The Nation address, the President claimed there was 7,000 km of road under construction,” said Raila.
Raila said what Jubilee has listed as achievements in the areas of national Security, Health, Electricity, Social Inclusion, Energy, Land title deeds, Food Security are exaggerations and the figures listed do not add up to what is on the ground.
The ODM leader also accused the Uhuru’s government of frustrating the Auditor General to intimidate him from digging deep into the Eurobond money that the opposition chief claimed were channeled to private pockets and not into the country’s economy as claimed.
The former premier claimed both the health and security dockets have turned to be cash cow for big men in Jubilee government.
He cited the recent purchase of security aircrafts claiming they were bought at double price with well connected brokers working in cahoots with the elements in government making a kill from the acquisition.
Earlier yesterday, Suna East MP dismissed the recently launched public information portal by President Uhuru Kenyatta as nothing but a ‘portal of lies’ meant to cover Jubilee government’s four years of non-performance.
