The country’s admission in hospitals increases by 52 per cent in less than 12 days

His Excellency President Uhuru Kenyatta has today confirmed that in less than 12 days, the country’s admission in hospitals has increased by 52 per cent.
President Kenyatta, in an address at State House in Nairobi, said that the positivity rate is the highest since the pandemic began and the stress on our health care is unparalleled.
“Nairobi county accounts for nearly 60 per cent of all recorded Covid-19 cases. This means that out of 5 people, 3 are more likely to be positive for Covid-19 disease,” he said.
He also directed that all funerals, cremations and interment ceremonies be conducted within 72 hours of confirmation of death.
Attendees of funerals are limited to 50 while weddings, marriage ceremonies, rites of passage events limited to 30 persons.
The President further extended the ban on political gatherings until further notice, adding that all physical meetings and social gatherings shall have a cap of no more than 15 persons.
“…the Judiciary, Law Enforcement, Remand and Correctional Facilities, the Director of Public Prosecutions, and other players and stakeholders in the criminal justice and civil justice systems are to take immediate action to eliminate non-essential physical contact or situations within their areas of mandate that may lead to crowding or propagation of the Disease,” he said.
“…all hospitals are directed to limit the number of visitors for hospitalized patients to two visitors per patient. All employers and enterprises of whatever nature including public bodies, the private sector, government offices, and others are directed to allow employees to work from home, with the exception of employees working in critical or essential services that cannot be delivered remotely, until further notified.”
The Ministry of Interior and Health have been directed to review protocols of re-issuance of curfew passes and exemptions.
