Tanzanian club Singida Black Stars threatens to take Gor Mahia to FIFA over failed Rooney Onyango transfer
Farce puts club once again in the crosshairs of global body after earlier issues with breach of contract

Tanzania Premier League side Singida Black Stars FC have accused Kenyan league giants Gor Mahia FC of receiving money through false pretense in a matter revolving around a transfer target.
According to the letter seen by Informer Media, Singida have accused K’Ogalo of receiving Ksh 5,168,332.48 (US$ 40,000) for the transfer of Rooney Onyango. The said amount was sent to the Gor Mahia accounts on November 15, 2024 after an agreement had been settled a day earlier.
The demand notice from Singida sent yesterday read: “Our club Singida Black Stars FC wrote a transfer request letter to your club (Gor Mahia FC) dated 12.11.2024 where we expressed our interest to sign your player Rooney Onyango. On 14.11.2024, you replied to our request and stated your acceptance of our offer and agreed to USD 40,000 being the transfer fees of the said player.”
“However the said transfer after back and forth did not materialize after your club received the said amount from our club. Our Club wrote to your club on 3.1.2025 requesting your club to refund the said amount since the transfer did not materialize due to your fault. It is unfortunate that to date we have not received any response to our letter neither have we received the refund. In the same context, your club is given 14 days within which to full balance. Failure to do so, our club will refer the matter to FIFA for breach of agreement.”
Insiders believe Onyango who is also in Harambee Stars roster is not comfortable with the deal. Since the season began, the roving wing-back has been holding out for a better deal from Europe with his Agents working overtime to find a club. The farce puts Gor Mahia once again in the crosshairs of FIFA after earlier issues with breach of contract with some foreign players and coaches that had passed through the club.
