Tana River Finance Chief Mariam Abdalla nabbed by EACC sleuths in possession of undeclared Sh2.7million

Detectives attached to the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) have arrested Tana River County Chief Finance Officer Mariam Abdalla Bunu in possession of Sh2.7million in cash at Malindi International Airport while enroute to Nairobi.

According to the officers, she neither declared the colossal amount nor could she explain the source.

“The Chief Officer was unable to explain at the Airport and did not declare as required,” the agency stated.

According to EACC, the amount was corruptly obtained from the Tana River County Government.

She is under investigations on possible embezzlement of public funds, abuse of office and dealing with suspected property.

The Chief Officer was among shortlisted candidates for the Chief Administrative Secretary (CAS) posts.

She had been scheduled to appear before the Public Service Commission (PSC) for interview on Monday, March 6,2023 at noon.
