Suspect behind Quiver’s Lounge shooting released on Sh5 million bail

A Nairobi court has released the suspect behind the shooting of two police officers and a woman at Quiver’s Lounge in Kasarani, Nairobi, on Sh.5 million bail or an alternative Sh.10 million bond.

Dickson Njanja Mararo is charged of injuring constable Festus Musyoka attached to Starehe Directorate of Criminal Investigation in the neck, Constable Lawrence Muturi attached to Kasarani Petty Crime Unit in the hand and a waitress Felistus Nzisa was shot in the stomach on July 2,2021.

State prosecutor, Evelyn Onunga urged the court to order the suspect surrender his passport.

“Your honour, we are also urging the court to order Mararo to surrender his passport,” she urged.

Milimani Law Courts Principal Magistrate Esther Kimilu also ordered Mararo never to be issued with a firearm while his Glock pistol, will remain confiscated until the case is determined.

He is also expected to give one contact person.

The court heard that Musyoka, was still undergoing treatment at the Nairobi Hospital’s intensive care unit and his medical bill has accumulated to Sh.5.7 million.

State prosecutor added that the investigating officer handling the case was yet to record Musyoka’s statement.

Further, she claimed Mararo’s other alleged victim Nzisa, a waitress at Quiver Lounge, has been detained at Mediheal Hospital in Nairobi over unsettled medical bill.

Kimilu said the move would allow the State to place witnesses under protection.

The case will be mentioned on September 30 this year.
