On 17th November, Kenya has recorded 925 people who have tested positive for the virus from a sample size of 5,559 tested in the last 24 hours bringing the number of confirmed positive to 71,729.
From the cases reported, 893 are Kenyans and 32 are foreigners with men hardest hit at 556 cases against 369 female victims.
The youngest is a five-month old baby, while the oldest is 92 years old.
A total of 1,018 patients have recovered from corona virus including 850 under home-based care. Since April, the country has registered 47,262 recoveries.
In what points to a bleak future amid surging numbers of the deadly virus, 15 more virus-related deaths have been recorded by the Ministry of health raising death toll to 1,302 while 1,237 others are under hospital-based care, 26 of those in ICU are under ventilatory support and 32 others on supplemental oxygen.
Other 92 patients are separately on supplementary oxygen out of whom 69 are in general wards and another 23 in High Dependency Unit (HDU).
Currently, 2,352 health care workers have tested positive for the virus, out of which, 1,177 are male and an additional 1,175 are females. 30 health workers have so far died from the virus.
The distribution of the cases by counties is as follows; Nairobi 385, Kiambu 102, Mombasa 59, Nakuru 39, Nyeri 39, Machakos 32, Busia 32, Kisumu 29, Kilifi 28, Kajiado 25, Siaya 23, Meru 20, Laikipia 20, Kisii, 15, Uasin Gishu 14, Bungoma 13, Baringo 12, Nyamira 10, Embu 9, Vihiga 9, Lamu 8, Tharaka Nithi 7, Makueni 5, Samburu 3, Kericho 2, Kakamega 2, Murang’a 2.
Kwale, Kirinyaga, West pokot, Garissa, Bomet, Migori, Trans Nzoia and Turkana have each recorded one case respectively
The cumulative Covid-19 test in the country since the first case was reported in March stands at 798,585.
