Somali national charged with human trafficking
Somali national and a Kenyan businessmen base in Mombasa were today charged in Nairobi court with human trafficking amounting to over $30,000.
Ali Hussein Ali and Ibrahim Mukhtar Abashiekh who appeared before Milimani Chief Magistrate Francis Andayi are said to be involved in a high ranking human trafficking network known as Magafe.
Prosecution informed the court that the two were arrest in Mombasa on March 29, 2017 after police received information that the accused had been acquired USD 30,000 equivalent to over Sh 3 million from trafficking persons to Syria, South Sudan and Europe from one of their cousin a mr Abdikadir.
It is alleged that they have been using the proceeds to buy property namely two motor vehicles and pieces of land along the Kenyan coast and recently opened a company by the name Abashiekh.
The offences are said to have been committed on the diverse dates between November 12, 2016 and April 27, 2017.
According to the police the source of funds to Abashiekh Company are from initial business of human trafficking, young youths who are hired to venture into risk travel to Europe in which they are told there is a lot of flora and fauna a waiting for them immediately they arrived in Europe.
It is said the accused collect amount of money which they first are smuggled from their home origin which include Somali, Kenya, Ethiopia and other African national to Sudan and goes to Libya. On transit to Libya they fall into pre- arraigned trap of pirates.
