Sierra Leone president laud Kenya’s effort in helping African nations achieve peace

Sierra Leone president Julius Maada Bio today joined Kenyans in celebrating the 59th Madaraka day at Uhuru Gardens.

Bio took the opportunity to thank and celebrate the steps that Kenya has taken in helping other African nations achieve peace and stability.

He thanked the Kenya Defence Forces for the enormous support accorded to the West African country in the 1990s, where four soldiers died during a peacekeeping mission.

“We can both celebrate, we have mastered our fears, we have worked hard to build bonds in the two countries. Today we are the 4th most peaceful democracy in Africa and it is partly because of the sacrifice of Kenya. Thank you very much,” said Bio.

He also highlighted the critical role of the health ministry, especially during outbreaks such as Ebola. He thanked the efforts by the country to help other African nations deal with catastrophic health issues.

When Ebola struck, Kenyan nurses and doctors were at hand to see us through those challenges.

During the census, the government was there to provide equipment when our government needed help.

Bio, who was in Kenya for a five-day state visit and was the chief guest on Kenya’s 59th Madaraka day celebration, congratulated Kenya’s resilience and helped other African nations.

While calling on unity, using quotes that signify unity he said that it will make both countries excel in their bilateral relations.
